Seldom do we look deep enough.

Whose side was Jesus, called by some itinerant teacher and activist from Nazareth really on?

Can you imagine the horrors of Black people? Snatched from the shores of Africa, shipped like cargo in the hulls of ships, stacked like sardines, in our own waste, thrown off the ship into the ocean if it made economic sense. Beaten, maimed, raped, killed, ripped from the arms of their mothers. Worked like chattel with no pay. Finally emancipated then lynched and terrorized for the audacity of being finally “free.” Counted as 3/5 a person, for the sake of landowning voters, then denied the right to marry, to vote, to live freely, to own land.

Wish you were here, wish you could see this place
Wish you were near,Wish I could touch your face
The weather's nice, it's paradise
It's summertime all year and there's some folks we know
They say, "Hello, "
I miss you so, wish you were here"
