“I can’t quite believe how buoyant the fans have been. They’ve done their part to make sure there hasn’t been a doom and gloom about the place. When you look at some clubs, it feels like they’ve still not got over their relegations in recent years, so the supporters have helped tremendously in making sure we have had a positive start.

“I was telling a few people that I’ve been amazed by the supporters. I think they have been terrific. Where usually they would be as gloomy as anybody else after a relegation, I think they just wanted to come to show their support which is good to see and hopefully they’ll turn up in their numbers on Saturday.”
