It was pitch-dark by the time the Syrian refugee family arrived in the eastern German town that was to be their new home. As they prepared to get off the train, a drunken skinhead stumbled past with a glare that made 11-year-old Raghad huddle closer to her mom.

The five members of the Habashieh family took a taxi to the asylum center assigned to them by a computer in Berlin. It was a former army barracks used by the Soviets and by the Nazis before them, surrounded by towering fences topped with barbed wire

So drank my tea this morning, ate my cornflakes grateful for the sun rising over the northern cliffs that border this town.
Thoughts drifted like many of you reading this to the refugees tracking across Europe.
Did they really think Europe was a easy place of milk and honey.
NO think again life is hard here
not a great deal of rewards.
The weather is harsh here, employment is poorly paid. The politics are tough on those lower down the ladder.
Walked to the library, our computers are not great, passed my neighbour along side homes which have overgrown gardens, what do you think they signal?
Occupants two each side of him did moonlight flits, why?
Bedroom tax,
yes tax if you have an extra room
one result over grown gardens and run down properties, where in an impoverished country called England!
WELCOME
WELCOME oh you refugees do you know what its really like here?
Paradise
NOT Likely.

. . . she got a postcard in the mail
That just said Heaven, with a picture of the ocean and the beach
The simple words he wrote her
Said he loved her
How he'd hold her if his arms would reach
Wish you were here, wish you could see this place
Wish you were near,Wish I could touch your face
The weather's nice, it's paradise
It's summertime all year and there's some folks we know
They say, "Hello, "
I miss you so, wish you were here"
