Why did he not organise a retreat to discuss deep meaningful ! Spiritual! Things and stuff Issues,why this surely was the perfect time.

because we are created in Gods image,so he cares about the social,along with the physical,

equally to what often people feel is the spiritual,the ressuraction is a physical and material event which engages with us on the spiritual realm also.....
