poverty 2016 and the role of faith leaders

STAND UP AND TELL THE WORLD ONE THING ABOUT POVERTY

Poverty is a waste of potential.
Poverty may mean a lack of financial resources…
however it can refuel one’s faith in humanity.
Poverty is not an acceptable consequence of birth.
Poverty needs to be eradicated NOW!
Poverty… is not the best… of me… or you… or us!
Poverty… child killer.
It is nobody in poverty’s fault: the poor can’t be blamed, stigmatised or hidden away. They are us; you, me and everybody.

I AM SHOCKED…

…that if a parent is sanctioned their child loses their free school meal.
…by the misery of so many people being sanctioned.

I AM AMAZED…

… at the true humanity with which a group of strangers can discuss the most difficult and dark parts of life. I feel warm, I feel moved, I feel humbled.
…by the equality of purpose
…at the amount of action taking place in our communities to combat hunger and food poverty
poverty has been on the increase in UK for 2 decades
when l first came into youth and community work as a paid worker done a decade volunteer) l was astounded and taken back by the poverty in the east of my home town Hull.
i am from a working class family of 9 children ,Dad had lost his job and worked part time army post baking.
we were not well off.
Being from a Church background stewarded well .Mum used skills to run household on tight budget
l suppose my family and faith journey protected myself someways from reality.
But the poverty here and throughout my professional journey demonstrated that many experience unjust laws and poor start in life.
political forces strive to make situation worse, greed gets in the way struggle to accept that they have high ideals or want to improve the life of others.
hierarchic of the Church establishment also complacent fail to assist vulnerable in lower class ,while  further maintaining own rich power base.
but at a lower level much is being done
The challenge is to combat the evil while also providing a safety net one the government now and past has failed to do.

long journey ahead

"Everyone has to go to Exeter, they will all travel," said Phelan. "It is important because we are in a groove that they all get there and carry on this momentum of togetherness.

Hull City team news

Caretaker boss Mike Phelan has vowed to field a strong side for this EFL Cup tie at Exeter , despite the threadbare resources available. Hull City have only been able to name 13 senior professionals for the back-to-back wins over Leicester City and Swansea City but Phelan has suggested that most will start at St James Park.
l can see the value in keeping the same team but if we could suggest odd change
however we just can`t at present.its life at Hull City and its tough
life is tough
sometimes sport entertains us as it mirrors the same
life is tough, playing in the football league is tough for Hull City at present
but
its only a game

everyday people and issues

If someone wants something then they reach for it.
don’t they?
If someone wants something then they attempt decisions which are reflected in their choices,
 are we correct
Yes, in so many areas of life this is what happens.

but some issues are so difficult

like access to children when a parent departs a relationship.

wrong religious beliefs, Islam wrong geographically
historically
culturally
theologically

around us are people who are not always `able to move on`
`get on with it`
`progress`

yet they are left out of the loop
not everything in life is just about `success`
money
relationships are so hard and huge things like `faith` `culture`
get in the way
smaller viewed issues like `relationship breakdowns`
 affect people in everyday ways
heard a great song recently
Lesley Duncan
`Chain of fools`
mega but so underrated

Another Saturday hull city team news

Hull made no subs in last weeks premier league, becoming the 1st team to win a match without making a change since Feb 2012.

love in complex society

Believing you are in the wrong body, can be complex.
“the truth is the truth and our message is the same”, while acknowledging there is a distinction between how we respond to activists seeking to ‘deconstruct gender’ and genuine sufferers.
“Our political engagement and our pastoral practice can’t be two completely separate things”,
So says>>Rob Smith  a theologian who studied at Moore Theological College,Australia.
l find this is best advice on the complexities around this issue.
We must strive to understand people, listen to their tale, reflect back a pastoral heart, instead of being judgemental.
Their is maturity, perhaps it comes from being a certain age, also a certain vulnerability now hold in own life.
Measured by love for our neighbours and a concern for wider society, Searching always to reflect the pastoral heart of God.

why not

Why gotta ask do we not look for God in our neighborhoods?
why do we not look for God among those nearest?
How come the Church wants us to seek God, at higher hierarchy?   and not a Vertical God who is positioned alongside us and not upwards and distant from us?

not taking life too seriously
 building sandcastles
 along the highways of life

The nights are getting darker and cooler

Yes it appears to have been a slow summer
Had some dry weather, hot Sunny days, even in this northern town in rural backwaters
Life is tough
It not going to get any easier,
We got labour elder`s, nostalgic for a world that never existed. Blind to the damage
Labour policies have done to many generations.
We need a new very different politic.
Angry. . . feel need a kiss from God.
Side with the vulnerable as many local to myself are struggling,
I see little hope.
Perhaps finding the politics of Bruce Cockburns and Che necessary in these times
"If l had a rocket launcher that son of a bitch"would die.

ITS FOOTIE AGAIN 2016 SEASON

You are down to 13 fit senior pros and in such disarray that all the predictions suggest you are favourites to go down. Meanwhile, your fans arrive so frustrated with matters they stage a protest insisting the owner vacates his position.
Enter Davies at the back for Hull City. Their captain was sensational throughout Saturday's encounter with Leicester City and showed the sort of leadership qualities that seem to be so desperately lacking in their boardroom.
He and his team-mates did not give Jamie Vardy a kick - and by the end, Davies left Hull fans singing 'Can't Help Falling In Love'.
Result against Premier champions
lifted everyone connected with the Hull City
Football just doesn't get better than that

protest and watch

The start of a new season should be one of the most exciting days of the year for any football fan, never mind one lucky enough to follow one of England's Premier League sides in the so-called greatest league in the world. Unfortunately, Saturday's curtain-raiser against Champions Leicester City is a day thousands of Hull City fans are dreading

Read a bit more at this conections www.hulldailymail.co.uk

you would think so but not for those of us following the thinline between hull city and relegationit only a game but it appears some are very affected by the events at a footie match. That is fine as they make the dramas, and excitement, good to understand. l am not that concerned but understand the protest and upsetmentperhaps it because l am so far away that l feel detached

the protest was peaceful
not so large
but very vocal

Now onto my other big issue at present Celebrity BB 2016
FOLLOWING THE DECISION NOT YET VIEWED AROUND A SUGGESTED STRIKE  Bear said: "It's really weird the atmosphere today."
The housemates then blanked the troublemaker, who said: "I feel like I'm being victimised. I can't take this any more. They need to grow up."
Without getting a reaction, Bear stormed into the house, shouting: "It's not on. This is embarrassing... It really is.
it can be very vile viewing when most are committed to promoting soft pawn,l have found this hard to watch indeed switching off at times.this used to be a good way with the insights, discussions offering insights to emotional literacy, relationship forming, group storming, behaviour ,boundaries all human behaviour was on display.
Not so nowadays

me and the farmer on the Archers

its the Archers and l am one of the one in 11 who listen to this drama.
Over the years, some of the topics addressed include everything from the British floods, people lost property and lives put at risk,
and a pet died and came back to living among us in this
life.
Scruff.
That old chestnut of course Fox hunting, BSE crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s, Britain joining the Common Market along with the  closure of the Royal Show in 2009.

not everything has been an easy listen

  • In 1955, 20 million listeners tuned in when Grace Archer tragically died in her husband’s arms after she tried to rescue a horse from a barn fire.
  • To mark the show’s 60th anniversary, a bumper 30-minute episode on New Year’s Day 2011 saw the popular Nigel Pargetter fall to his death from the roof of Lower Loxley Hall.
  • l actually laughed it was so funny
  • From the latter end of 2015, listeners were glued to their radios as Rob Titchener ramped up the low-level undermining and abuse of his pregnant wife Helen, née Archer
  • but this has been perhaps a bit to far coining the phrase eastendersrural a cross between that awful dross, even loved by my son, eastenders and the rural soap we call Archers.
  • this has not addressed the issue of domestic violence it just become tedious and boring.,   it not the place of such dramas to be torchbearers for serious issues.
  • Simply does not work on this platform. . . .also it got dragged out.
  • But then in every 100 people in the UK, there are around another 9 who may disagree with myself on this.
love trying to draw but only ever for myself
good for the soul also need to read a lot more then l am at present

Celebrity big brotha 2016

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW
CBB 16
Well been getting a bit of trash TV used to be about relationships
 and how people interacted.
Now it appears to me just to be about abuse, threats, and wickedness.
Really scrapped the bottom of the barrel, with some vile, and inhuman persons masquerading on the show.
Some of got the name they go by tattooed, on their necks like toilet wall graffiti.
What are we coming too, when this passes as entertainment, anger and threats along with Nazi jokes from a`bygone wanna be star`.
For a quick joke one contestant got booted off the programme.
Then another abused and threatened others along with abuse to females .
The punishment, Nothing.
Mixture of non reality shows like the vile Goerdie shores and the TOWIE type programme leaves you with a vacant guest list
These likes fill the places as they behave like they do on own programmes.
Not watched by the many including myself.

The Hull City situation

Unhappy and saddened by way some fans of my hometown team Hull City are behaving towards situation

The Hull City situation, my view from a city supporter who often lived because of work, away from my Home town.
Family plus friends often give me the nuances don`t get from media like TV ,or the Radio and suchlike.
At present Unhappy and saddened by way some fans of my hometown team Hull City, are behaving towards situation.
ITS ONLY A GAME.
on a social media link someone compared the owner in another very inappropriate manner, witnessed and enjoyed by others not HCFC fans.
so l have to say `Liking` and `linking` the club (via a remark about its owners) to child abusers and mass murders, is a stance too far, getting myself and others at a point where we do not want to be associated with our own Clubs supporters.
There is always the line "where you at Maccessfield 35 years ago?"
Apparently you have to been among some hardcore 300 who went bare skinned to a minor game, often before you were born, to be a real supporter.
Yes it not good the currant situation, shameful, many are angered.
But Football on a Saturday afternoon at 15.00 can only
only ever be a game.(or indeed the other times it played).
Only, never ever, will be more then that.
It doesn't matter how you dress up the situation,
the result will always be a game of football was played.
NOTHING more.
Does it sometimes give us guidance for life?
Yes all sports do that
Does it entertain when issue are large and you need to escape them for a while?
Yes it can do that.
What we are witnessing at HCFC, is something going really wrong.
Communications, a relationship, business plan, community issues, but they are not template for life, it only ever is a game.
Game with loads of money.
Yes and in that is load more issues that not going to address.
despite not getting there every week, many still love our hometown and its footie team dare we shout . . . or allowed to say....
UTT up the tigers.

Hungry in Yorkshire

Well we need to have some laughter and joy in our lives
But be careful out their on the moors of Yorkshire

Been watching CBB16 concerned about relationships formed
Way people bully openly
Along with the abuse of drink clear some people coming down from drug abuse
sexist and racist behaviour along with real lack of depth in the characters
there is 'unspirituality' that is not often evident
lot of irrelevant comments
Life not being lived to true potential as displays
Sad  . . .but worth watching? I ask.

Also getting in touch with COACHTRIP 16
another programme interest me in interactions
between humans along with relationships formed

Some simple garden pictures from this morning

storm in Hull

Hull City have devoted the summer to offering a whole new definition of the term “perfect storm”.
With Assem Allam, their owner, seriously ill, Steve Bruce, the former manager, falling out with Assem’s son, the vice-chairman Ehab Allam, and takeover talks with a couple of interested American consortiums either placed on hold or collapsing, the portents were never overly promising.

Having been thwarted by the Football Association in their attempt to re-name the team “Hull Tigers” – a potential move which divided supporters – an even more controversial initiative, namely a membership scheme featuring monthly payments and no concessions for children or pensioners has not gone down overly well.

two views of Robin Hoods Bay

Robin Hoods Bay in 2016
teenagers dreams and time walked away
as the village sits in the sun
new tide washes away all the moments
Keep asking was life easier
felt like moments where longer
faith was new and developed
God played alongside as we built our sandcastles

some views stayed the same
but felt the intolerance
"your parking across my drive"
`no l am not`
Swear words directed at me and few threats.
but l am not bothered
Bay in the sun stays the same
bit backward,
self serving,
lacking progress,
probably the worst cafes in Yorkshire.

. . . she got a postcard in the mail
That just said Heaven, with a picture of the ocean and the beach
The simple words he wrote her
Said he loved her
How he'd hold her if his arms would reach
Wish you were here, wish you could see this place
Wish you were near,Wish I could touch your face
The weather's nice, it's paradise
It's summertime all year and there's some folks we know
They say, "Hello, "
I miss you so, wish you were here"
