poverty 2016 and the role of faith leaders

STAND UP AND TELL THE WORLD ONE THING ABOUT POVERTY

Poverty is a waste of potential.
Poverty may mean a lack of financial resources…
however it can refuel one’s faith in humanity.
Poverty is not an acceptable consequence of birth.
Poverty needs to be eradicated NOW!
Poverty… is not the best… of me… or you… or us!
Poverty… child killer.
It is nobody in poverty’s fault: the poor can’t be blamed, stigmatised or hidden away. They are us; you, me and everybody.

I AM SHOCKED…

…that if a parent is sanctioned their child loses their free school meal.
…by the misery of so many people being sanctioned.

I AM AMAZED…

… at the true humanity with which a group of strangers can discuss the most difficult and dark parts of life. I feel warm, I feel moved, I feel humbled.
…by the equality of purpose
…at the amount of action taking place in our communities to combat hunger and food poverty
poverty has been on the increase in UK for 2 decades
when l first came into youth and community work as a paid worker done a decade volunteer) l was astounded and taken back by the poverty in the east of my home town Hull.
i am from a working class family of 9 children ,Dad had lost his job and worked part time army post baking.
we were not well off.
Being from a Church background stewarded well .Mum used skills to run household on tight budget
l suppose my family and faith journey protected myself someways from reality.
But the poverty here and throughout my professional journey demonstrated that many experience unjust laws and poor start in life.
political forces strive to make situation worse, greed gets in the way struggle to accept that they have high ideals or want to improve the life of others.
hierarchic of the Church establishment also complacent fail to assist vulnerable in lower class ,while  further maintaining own rich power base.
but at a lower level much is being done
The challenge is to combat the evil while also providing a safety net one the government now and past has failed to do.

Going places...

Some people just don't        know how to be Kind.         Age doesn't season them,       time does not mellow Them.  Try ...

MAYBE WE WON`T MEET AGAIN

. . . she got a postcard in the mail
That just said Heaven, with a picture of the ocean and the beach
The simple words he wrote her
Said he loved her
How he'd hold her if his arms would reach
Wish you were here, wish you could see this place
Wish you were near,Wish I could touch your face
The weather's nice, it's paradise
It's summertime all year and there's some folks we know
They say, "Hello, "
I miss you so, wish you were here"
