Each gospel story is the telling of a practice in response to a one of the core life question,we all spend time reflecting upon.
Matthew: (from Antioch) How do we face change?
Mark: (from Rome) How do we move through great trials and sufferings?
John: (from Ephesus) How do we receive joy and know union?
Luke: (to all the emerging Christian Communities) How do we mature in service?Dig deeper, well try too, into the issues raised on TV, PODCASTS,BIBLE STUDY, receive shared ideas, hold discussions, involved in chats,
As l paddle these beaches on East Riding coast. recalling same really special person, think about books clearly well `thought about statements`, Very sure below is a great read.. . .'Heart and Mind' Dr. Shaia... Four gospels were written to address one of four questions.Well me , l`m not sure, but . . .change….suffering…joy….service….. Do read that but not convinced.
As we all transform, we create bigger faith journey, remain on a kind of pilgrimage, new and different opinions come to the prefrontal that pretty vital, l am pretty sure, but as gospel writers where not academic people. Very simple folk who, ( it cannot be denied ), they were Spirit led, Culturally writings missed a lot of people.Trying to follow the deep thinking hinted at here.
The first three Gospels, and possibly also the fourth, were apparently written while the city of Jerusalem was still standing. Each of the first three Gospels contains predictions by Jesus concerning the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple (Matthew 24; Mark 13; Luke 21), none records the fulfilment. We know the Roman`s destroyed the city and Temple in A.D. 70.
Not one of them identifies its author.
We have good reason to support the authors our church tradition has named, but we don’t have to simply take their word for it.
