My final thoughts on 2025.

Hate grew...they targeted a FAVORITE tribe of mine.
If ever we needed assurance sure that a generation would arise hooked on the lies of the internet. The falsehoods generated. The lack of compassion offered. This was that year.

 

Go forward.
Wrestle with your faith.
It will deepen your understanding.
Test the theories, explore reality.
Debate the solutions offered.
Gather often.
Dance to vinyl . Reflect on lyrics to songs you like 
Love God, love one another, follow Jesus.

Value the older folk, they too are lonely with so much to pass onto you.

Some people won't....they just will not

My effort's as pastoral counseling person centered worker. Not just using titles here trying to explore my practice in life been placed at times tried to be good shepherd in relation to my charges, client base. Adapt listening actively to them expressing issues they face. Person centered simply means the individual counts. The experience they have encountered has value.

Worker implications that paid, professional trained and experienced the situations a great deal in over 45 years as a Community and youth delivery.

Success well how do you manage that . Unsure if real honest. Simply unsure. But maintained work patterns. But hard things is you...You ...may have to do all the above as a family member or friend. The other is not going to listen.

The other is not going to listen and you can not control that. The other has made choices you are not responsible for them making. You can control how you feel. How you emotional adjust. How you share. How you address issue of guilt. You can control that.

You cannot control how another responds.

Sharing is important..

Sharing is important it takes courage.

Men are not very good at level 5 sharing and remain in cliches and struggle moving to emotions and feeling types of sharing 

Our present obsession with social media has only confirmed male detachments.

In the film Heat ..with De Niro and Al Pacino taking dual Lead roles .Excellent example. De Niro character talking guided to a female. He expose himself emotionally when asked:-

"Are you Lonely"
De Niro character respond with.
" I am alone a lot, but never lonely".

Open honest disclosure which as film unfolds leaves him vulnerable. Sharing takes courage. Time will pass you by. Enjoy the experience gather your courage.

From a rooftop in Bethlehem.

 

The Mild climate in Israel meant that people met in open spaces to converse. The market places, fish markets, wells where people collected water. Outdoors. Rooftops where such places and indeed we know from Biblical accounts. 
David spotted Bathsheba bathing from his rooftop advantage. A sick man was lowered through the roof to Jesus below the gospels tell this story. Spoiler alert he was made healthy.
From my Bethlehem viewpoint today all looks peaceful and from a distance all looks well in the world Today l want to stay here.

The wise men made a pilgrimage from the east.

Well where how far away ? 

To worship at the cradle of Christ; and the shepherds journeyed from field to town in search of Jesus, the saviour of the world. In each case, they journeyed with others, and relied on the companionship and kindness of others. Through physical and mental challenge, they found an inner strength.

Where is there any narrative supporting that statement ...Why has this Clown pampered idiot who talks to trees come out with such a unhinged reaction to the Zoroastrian leaders of 2025 years ago.

To this day, in times of uncertainty, these ways of living are treasured by all the great faiths and provide us with deep wells of hope: of resilience in the face of adversity; peace through forgiveness; simply getting to know our neighbours and, by showing respect to one another, creating new friendships.

Not simply , hate to appear paediatric Not All faiths. Such giant leap to state that through to his journey other faiths are demonstrating resilience , Peace and forgiveness. If they are isn't that because id the nature of the Christ child and ,kingdom values. It diluting the Followers of Jesus practice into some modern weak woke narrative

Authentic... Appreciated...Fact.

Near to my present location there is, one of the most authentic Christmas experiences in Europe:  "Bethlehem f’Għajnsielem".  

This is not a typical nativity scene with statues. It is a living village spread over 20,000 square metres.

Actors in period costume populate the village, tending to real animals, baking bread, and operating traditional crafts. Like stepping back in time 2,000 years. The event runs on selected dates December 4th to early January. An immersive experience bringing the historical Advent of Christmas, Saviours arrival on earth, to life in a way that feels both humble and spectacular.

In such description, in such images, in such culturally expressions. The message of the cross, revolution, the good news and in this season the coming of Jesus the king of kings and prince of peace is simply pointing us to something of such significance. Spirit of the streets 58.

Where very soon will be heading again it's wonderful authentic,even charming appreciated by so many visitors.

What do you notice.

 You see two images of Christmas the mass for Christ's coming into the world. As the prince of Peace. These at first glance are comfortable well known images. Except they are not. The first one only shows Baby child near to his birth with Mary young mum, even teenage girl youngish like features she holds. Vulnerable fearful . The most simple message. Common urban everyday people greet their saviour. Our Saviour. 

Joseph is present. Sheep. Baby looks vulnerable few others maybe in image your not aware who they could present . Female shepherdess ? Family members of the group.?

Accurate we know this story image is familiar. Second more expense image. What do you notice here?  Firstly Mary’s older.

She’s haggled. Jesus is 18 month old child. Restless won’t keep still. Mary is struggling. Is Joseph  present. There in a settled home. Where? The Magie has arrived people of power, people of education, people of Privilege. People studious. Mighty fearless military. The Gospels ,Birthday of the Lord only covered with differences in two of the four gospels we have in Bibliography. The Magie had been into Herod's court, traveling through Roman empire with immunity.

Accurate. Raise questions. What Questions does this raise for yourself.? What’s happened to Jesus and family since. What happens next.?

Both scenes are warm, invites us into the narrative our conversation is welcome not sentimentality it’s harsh. Holy Spirit is evident as sojourner is unfolding.

Was discussing serious issues with maintenance housing on Friday. Concluding learning in relation too contracted work being still urgent requirement. Found out department been linked with is undergoing restructure.

Reasonable person with authority but know issues are complex. That means l'm standing back till spring. In new year when return home,  may follow up topics we understood and reached an agreement about.

'Communication and abilities to get correct contact' , where the issues hope local government make improvements around. Accountability remains subject not comfortable will be corrected.

This was another way, my voice has along with others just been ignored in decision making process. When you get older before one retires found very suddenly voice doesn't matter. Being validated is important process for people with my experience.

Watching people gather along paved streets. Gatherings concerned with Saturday catch up.

The Big build up to commercial season of advent feels muted.

Drink prices at Xmas Markets are triple what same product is on urban streets. So economically stretched are excluded. Rides are expensive. We don't need this artificial leg of a sideshow.

Tolerance development

Noise comes at you no matter where you are. Constant from kidz on buses down with heads listening to music others can hear 

Old folk taking private calls loudly not aware of disclosure. Children given a screen to enable them to keep quiet while mom scrolls for few hours.

Our minds visit 'miso phobia 'are damaged by total hell of these disruption .Quality of life is going beyond repair. Others are having impact in how you behave because of noise.

Get away. Switch off the voices inside your head.

Walk in nature. sit in silence. Shut out the noise repair yourself.

Sit quietly listen to your own breathing fall silent.

Turn down the lights...in the quiet commit to 5 minutes each day to try this. Become better person,  Become different person. You are a beautiful human person. This is you this is your time.

How on earth.

How does it float? Why have got such macro economics as progressive statement of capitalist dream. To say it dwarfs everything is completely true. It's a small country visiting an Island. 

Seasons folded away....Advent changed.

What would you have thought all those years ago as the season turned. Would you expected this ?

The years folded away new decades more wars...degrees of starvation, to time of plenty.

A season of goodwill heralds macro capitalist system promoting presents loads of money and gifts to put you in debt.

The rich tapestry of history architecture culture and spirituality appear to be in contrast to modern day offerings. Teddy bears, fancy clothes, chocolates, lots of other trash there a kind of buzz happening. But hides fact poverty placed with outliers.

The seasons character doesn't reflect s king coming to bring restoration to people who have strayed from Father's call. Nor does it eagerly await his second advent.

Slow walks and sleepy people carry presents, shopping, rushing to plenty of food drinks and time with others. But noticed the elderly looking at prices slightly discomforted with new way of being.

Was it another place where this time of year stood for peace, mercy righteousness and Love. Now it appears abuse of power, talk of war, place for money and political misdeeds.

Have no words.

           Because l believe in life,                         Life after death.

Hull and happy same sentence ...maybe they meant Hell.

Nationally, Hull ranked 169th happiest place in the UK out of a total of 220 places. This means there are only 51 places 'sadder'. Even l wouldn't highlight that fact. Talk about twisting by the pool.

I'm in happy place, happy essential and me....We meet again on my Island in the sea.

Back to me being me....Can we cut it with awful Christmas songs ..Enough already. People inthe Mediterranean feels snow is romantic soft white fluffy, pure and desirable . It is on Christmas cards.

In reality it's seldom white but grey slushy. Cold to the touch harsh wet slippery and dangerous.

 

Kevin day in paradise

Today's been a day of recovery from stress travelling towards my idea of paradise. Swam used the gym but struggle. Welcome the expecting struggle. One of those could do better but it's fine struggles.

Looks like a storm brewing.

Day of listening to ...Cavalleros rusticana Intermezzo....while sun rose over Mediterranean sea. People travelled in hot sun...ate boiled eggs, ham cheese sandwiches. Drank beer. Watched the sun go down. Contentedly me also.

Yes watched sun go down on our island basking in hot sun. The colours observed like many times before as boats crew ended their long day. Reflective grateful thanks to God.

The long winding road, led me here from coastal northern town by car several trains , plane. Air road and sea. Long days it took few to arrive here. Tender travel mercies requested. 

But here a question why would you do all that, (not me you grasp)...

Why travel here to Malta ,just to get drunk for weekend already rat arsed. ? 

Two day trip.....How come fair few don't get culture vibes, or religion, spiritual ,history or beauty's around them.?

So why those five....it's all to do with powerlessness. Relying on others. They can alter all my plans unknown forces can play a part in derailing myself. (excuse the pun it's not intended).  As we get older , LIFE'S experience knowledge and understanding well they desert depart myself at these moments. So my hope my faith my journeys really down to others . 

Journey again..

Don't do Christmas it's a female mum girlfriend, generally women thing.
As male don't write cards, don't put up tree's or trimmings.
I did buy some gifts for select few.

The weather's been incredible mild felt warm. Sitting waiting as boat arrives home later then it should. Someone waiting. Someone worried. Light very bright light has appeared this ship with crew are harbour bound.

Memories of Christmas are troubled memories. But you have to reflect on them as you also hold good memories. Both are part of your LIFE.

So journey has to be made broken into several tasks. Car to railway station, Train journey bus journey, Hotel stay. Flight to Malta. Here l'll stay to reflect and come to explore where l am currently in several areas of my LIFE. 

A view and strong opinion.

Footage of two Afghan illegal immigrants abducting a girl, 15, was deemed "so appalling" it "could cause riots". There been a call for the Recording to be placed into the Public domain. 
Discussion around freedoms ,censorship, etc ..large arguments taking place . Release this, That's a view and strong opinion. Personally I don't think so, no one needs to see footage of a rape being conducted.  If nothing else should consider the victim and  be respectful for the poor girl.

The backstory growing is how society but more particular those with authority are not protecting vulnerable females, by that l mean females in all aspects. Society doesn't not present them with enough respect, support nor legal resources. Catalogue of harm, abuse, sexual trafficking. It has gone on with political classes sleepwalking. 

This was framework that , this blog addressed yesterday. Righteousness, mercy, grace, Justice. In 1993, the James Bulger abduction CCTV footage was released "to facilitate an informed public debate" on public safety ? Is it time to do the same again?

This they are suggesting has likeness to the killings of child in Liverpool L4 decades ago. Unsure if the issues are framed like some are heralding. But anger boiling, sheer evil projected has echoes. James Bulger murder in February 1993. Coming out of University with my Qualification was miserable sideshow. Throughout Anfield/Walton/Kirby area at the time, because you knew both the areas the killers (Jon Venables and Robert Thompson) came from, parish you worker for Anfield, was moved to that immediate patch to Norris Green for my practice to be evident in that hot bed.

The night the police released the names and the fact the killers were local 10-year-old boys from norris green... it was absolute bedlam.  Norris green was like a tinderbox. Mobs were formed, people were out on the streets, bricks through windows, taxis full of men seeking revenge  ?Unconnected families having to be moved in the middle of the night. 

Ralph and Denise Bulger somehow kept going through sheer grief, heart broken pain, disbelief. Ralph in particular was in pieces; he barely spoke for weeks. The extended family closed ranks around them, but the pressure was unimaginable. I have often asked, prayed, wondered how any of them coped is beyond comprehension.

A lot of workers, probation staff, social workers who were involved on the patch around the time were reassigned or just kept their heads down for months afterwards. Many questions needed to be asked about how these child killers were not better tracked in already complicated system that should easily identified  them for intervention.

Some never went back to certain work environments. Pain, anger, broken spirit other fallout changed many around Merseyside for generations. Those impacts still echoes this day. Are we experiencing people of evil and acts of evil raising, with  further hatred, alongside panic and untrustworthy responses ?

This `Jesus stuff` following him and building his kingdom. Not for wimps !

Its hard but `time after time` come across people who get this ticket to Heaven given them by Jesus.

That's it, no mention of justice, 

No mention of mercy, no mention of peace, 

No mention of righteousness. no mention of grace

No mention of compassion.

No wrestling with what the kingdom will look like.

No mention of exploring the economics well being of a neighbours

How teachings of Jesus impact your ethical soundings,

the bigger frame of what the Prophets' like Jeremiah, Isiah, Micah, Hosea, Joel.

Not to mention the words these messages of prophesy implore us to commit to living.

"Even now", declares the Lord, "return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning."

"He had compassion and did not bring upon them the destruction he had threatened" - Jonah 

 My heart is changed within me; all my compassion is aroused" - Hosea 

"what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God" - Micah

"Return to me and I will return to you", says the Lord - Malachi

Guess that's quite a lot to digest and think about for now tell me this `Jesus stuff` following him and building his kingdom.

Not for wimps or self centered individuals is it...Gotta ask ?

Arrived.

 Well the season Rightly called advent arrived

There not so obvious in the shops weather been affecting the issue with lot wetter days ,all feels longer. Colder lot less to do in rural community. Harder to bring about social cohesive, but going for long `sabbatical` break where some approaches will provide discussion if not solutions. later for reflection shared. For now it's rest period .

Encounters

This is the image of the season sleeping on our beach....but very young and dangerous so marine dive unit. Following challenging encounter with dog walkers humans interviend. Taken the seal into care for check and release later.

Shops are very empty today are full with major works affecting travel moments. Which when possible such moments we're slow along with frustrating.

Friendship is valuable word one we should treasure. Role we should all attempt to play to best of our abilities . Encounters we have are valuable need mentoring, caring about handled with love compassion wisdom and grace.

Love wins so get in the game and play the part.

All that Jesus said about marriage and divorce was about liberation of women.
That’s often reflected but not always accepted by the Church.

Listening to a Jewish Rabbi communicate about issues of justice, oppression, educational message about how we should treat each other. Reaffirmed the place of Woman changing society. Lessons we are sure not learnt and still not be observed in 2025. Lot you can learn from People of Israel.

 What l try to do on my normal days is share this kind of narrative, people tell me is often sharing raw, unfiltered thoughts on faith, personal struggles, community building, and societal critiques— Like to feel grounded in everyday life in where  presently reside northern England.

Then there's the music which is a ever devolving into the stuff l hear and desire to share. 

for around 4 years been caught watching two guys try to fish while share stuff around life its challenges specific to aging plus health very specifically cardio damage. its not flash its uncluttered holds depth conversations carry weight. Humour is fall down reflect and communicate merriment. Last night Lloyd  coles "Why in the world " hit us all.
