Gospel according to D' Angelo from the Wire .

 If you've been watching the series about inner city Baltimore, drugs docks, issues around poverty crime, waste, generally a hard watch.

Redemption doesn't arrive for many. Just harshness general oppression handed to them by political elite marrowed in greed themselves with plenty of evident corruption.

D'angelo wants out, but born into something that holds him. But he wants something different . Something better. But he can't got no message got no leader, got no one to follow.

Sticks with what he knows.

Remains a stastic on drug count. Suggest way of dealing drugs doesn't involve others beating up others to control the corners. Suggest as nother should return to education. Tried to be kinder.

Engages compassionate response to enemies.

But can't decide and demonstrates reality that's cruel  at times others lifes don't matter. He interacts with the drugs desires promotion that area .

Perhaps among the advice he offers is one identified above.

Points out who you are, is we here you come from has overriding arc to who you will become. How you handled the Life really about who you become.

In most senses it's hopeless struggle through hard meaningless task in harsh tough environment.

2025 echos with this message of despair.

We are never going to be ' Back in the day'. Never, the journey never goes back, never

All sorts stuff around us take our memories and reminding each person about perhaps time, place, people. They educated us about history of were person was born.

Tell us something about how place got formed, perhaps who visited bringing terror along with death. Statuses are erected to former rulers. Great people are immortalised. Events form input daily journeys past these places 

It part also of our journey. We forget, perhaps we don't visualise buildings that surround us, or impact us and we often recall. Build on we what happened. Journeys forged information into what we've discovered.

That beautiful view we do often see as we begin our journey. Old lines no longer carry trains but still have a start. Many reminding anyone listening about 'back in the day'.

It was better every one was going somewhere. Heading for better place in those good old days.

Just different, Just better. Just not the now of where we are, nor who we are.

As l grew older, found again (like when younger) investing in possibilities of wonders and signs in the words that reading, saying into conversations. Keep returning to older more understood spiritual lessons that feel l`ve learnt. Delightful to discover almost recognising them again. Adding more value.

When we reread some parts ,Like Prayer above, wondering if your the same, me, well wrestle with forgiving part, not my greatest moments forgiving others, hasn’t been easy, along with the temptation outline , these aspects of the taught to us, ` Lords prayer` remain with myself real issue.

Sometimes you find a place that communal where others gathered. My lorry driver friend talking about walk near sandsend Whitby. Near  area traversed a lot kettleness. Journeyed there major.We both for few minutes connected around how space touched us,isolation. Also moors across M62 place called Saddleworth, now damaged by child murders.

Isolated and remote, place calls echo sound, these places have a feel. If your drawn into it a connect ( my view) grasps you. Return once journeyed you return. Like walk first undertook in the Seventies wow all that time still feel the space of that long journey 

Do they shape us,?

Mine affected myself shaped my resilience. Proved to me could accomplish, at age when begining to develop grow into adult responsibilities.

Churches mission....I'm not joking with you about this.

Wonder why we get mixed up about nature and purpose of why we exist. Churches are there to develop the very same ,actual real purpose of it's founder.

The same mission the whole early Church got involved in among it's early years. To present the world around it's localities with the good news,that there is a redeemer. To present community along with individuals the  expectation that a message of Love will be recieved.

To demonstrate what that would look like if whole of nature around the message embraced the message. Then took on board it's lessons. That nature plus purpose is enough. All that other stuff once added on.All that confusing theology, (spiritual masterbation), is a hindrance. It's often then when the secondary becomes the primarys.

Beautiful Human being, treasure. The life you lived carry on living, with legacy heritage. The pain ..sadness .. shadow event's, incredible relationships. Place you are in. Places travelled captured mistakes.

You know those films you love

While corner kids sat opposite getting younger cause friction.

There appears one overriding issue facing the cohesion of society presently . Other concerns are not being addressed. The issue brings negative response from educated people. Further divides sometimes observing across class. Then allegations along with accusations arise. Bitter divisions no Political solutions offered.

The church lacks leadership in theatres. No voice is speaking into these issues lack of clarity. My email inbox doesn't address the subject, causes me concerns, also need to question my contacts. Not been conversation we have openly shared either.

As we travel, Lord, whether it be a journey between places or a journey through life, give us an openness to one another and a willingness to engage, that we may build community and connection across difference and diversity, showing and sharing your love with all.

We all have journeys mostly daily steps we take. Into silence of the day. Walks in nature the golden harvested fields witnessed around ourselves .

Sound of trees leaves rustling remind us of God. Waves coming against the shore water laps up sandy beach.

These moments bring us into the moments of our reflections internally these form our larger prayers.

In the time of my confession.

So found this song that at one time expressed the pain that personally felt. In time when as guy in my narrative, it was me  who felt broken . .found song identified with. Been like a shadow in my video vault of music held close. All my emotional literacy was being expressed by another. 
Of course, learnt that it maybe was different shadow dance for the person who penned the lyrics. Understand plus grasp that, but connection was there. Recently listened closely to the song.
One discovery was why had felt so low in myself. You see l have changed, perhaps also l have grown.
All the experiences of living shape myself. no longer feel this blue nor damaged. Recall me at that time.

Indeed the number of utterly different cover versions of the song should keep us aware of just how much there is in the music. Well exactly further in most music we often return towards.

Emphasis often from funders or business even cooperation underwrite together product, view, theme into our minds.

Movies affect our souls. Influence our thinking, effect our feelings play without emotions. Never really just pure escapism.

Can be a minefield of thinking heart and mind complexities.

Why we use modern media to save our souls.

 

We use modern media, tabliod Gospel. 

To open emotionally literacy, so we can reflect. Can yes a person can express own view. Even if others won't accept. It's allowed the chance to say your point of view. Your words are valuable. Because it's a throw away media. Still had depth it's a thing a non transient topic. So people are open to speaking. Because it's common form of communication people are comfortable in the arena.

This can open person to explore deeper with Bible along with those who follow Jesus. Where if it was just linear exercise with book and pens.

It would fail although some can address topics this way. That can  come later . Non linear communication opens the discussion leading to growth.

Often religious films don't help faith bedate

As we look at inferred values in Movies one would imagine area of presenting Jesus. Would be points gained all around Not so. Often argument is same from secularism camp as it is from the Religious gatherings.
Often both reflect same complaint. The Passion suffered this.

Despite use of Jesus own Aramaic language.

Filmed with locals involved in the story casts

People thought it was too graphic,

People stated it was too violent,

People state too religious.

It's about Saviour dying most cruel barbaric way. Methods adopted to humiliate and bring shame. Watched this in cinema as we collected as a group. Some shouted out. Many were uncomfortable.

That in reality's the Church failed to award the film many merits. Actually it's great evangelical tool. Sadly not appreciated.

Films observe essential views into the lives of many people trying to navigate the difficult waters of adolescence problems, issues, sometimes  presenting resolutions BREAKFAST CLUB . ...WANDERER'S...WEST SIDE STORY. ...

Dark side of LIFE sadly painfully violence is explored and passage to  adulthood promoted as both exciting and terrifying.

THE WIRE captured lot of the issues really , documented coming-of-age story about a guy outgrowing their friends,

But involved in drug trafficking, crime , and violence . The  neighborhood is felt to be accurate  description and image of ones people know.

It's acknowledged, but compliant can be that Films present limited set of options. 

That is the value, So people like myself discuss areas of concern as we grapple to talk about each others souls and issues we are facing.

The screen gets filled with scenes of gray, cloudy exteriors and working-class malaise, and every character seems to hold secret issues. Here presented in ways observed can witness, just like LIFES lived. Not always willing to share.

Some films like...PRETTY WOMAN...LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST .. HARDER THEY COME...” Come against structures of authority, include here local government, teachers, church, even disc jockeys, Police, other gatherings like ones own.

So issues explored are some those watching can discuss , because it's only a Film we are watching . 

Films don't save our souls, allow us to discuss argue debate and have conversations about how we may feel our spirit is affected.

I know further confirmation l'm a heretic. But movies can shape plus save a soul.

Not talking about those wet whristian movies, wrote by generally American Whristian. Not those awful dreadful things.

No proper movies. Me just ordinary Kevin, not especially awkward everything about my LIFE is pretty normal. But there `for a while` when came to faith in following Jesus, became aware of added complexities. Add to this myself sporting ways chosen Boxing. Along with fact l was dee jaying DJ as called in clubs, Church youth settings plus the club scene. Well as it was. We got more money paid to play music often had big 70 x 70 big screens sometimes banks of TV in the bigger clubs. 

Most times `these on silent` with music, films, and MTV, in backdrop to the music we played from the decks.

Here culturally there was a battle, socially it presented obstacles. Many wasn't really schooled in nor prepared for.

Promise to revisit that in next few days.

But this guy, plus turns out others were being drawn into frontier cultural wars. Not wars active difficult discussions.

Films …Return to music later Films loved watching still do really suppose had over 50 years going to cinema, watching movies, buying boxsets. Flowed so easily into discussions, long deep conversations and lot of reflection.

Well no, its much more then that but a start for some, however if we are open to discussion around faith. Some state that Bible is complete truth and cannot be dilated from further those who take that route are heretics. Worse kind of people.

Guess for a while l was part of emergence. simple thought knew the word to mean . We are developing in this way. So read books about emerging and emergence. Thinking both same thing, stuff was about how in faith of followers of Jesus . Well simply are developing as individuals into a faith community relevant to the new milieum.
