Listen deeply.
Imagine noise of Heavens
We can take comfort in the fact that ,Mclaren (and everyone else) is likely wrong and does not know it. So why construct a post-modern articulation of a (sort of) theology?
As my latest reading the new Christians
Here an answer: but it comes in the way of a warning: as in most of BM other books, there are places where he go`s out of my way to be provocative, mischievous, and unclear,
This l find very unhelpful and indeed childish. But is that for younger readdress and more recent converts to the faith of Christian," If we are reflecting belief that clarity is sometimes overrated, and that shock, obscurity, playfulness, and intrigue (carefully articulated) often stimulate more thought than clarity.”
Then l think playing a silly game and a hurtful harsh lesson for some.
Mclaren well appears to be saying . . . .
that his purpose is not to tell us what is true or false
about propositional statements
regarding God, man, salvation, and eternity;
But to stimulate our thinking
by purposely promoting obscurity.
I wonder what value “stimulated thinking” has if coming to the knowledge of the truth is ruled out as a reasonable outcome.
my greatest concern is l read to learn even have a debate with others. BUT cannot this is all so misleading and childish. BUT it also pretty harsh.
Like for one example early on we are told
`forget all you have learnt from Church other Christians even the Bible....`
That hurts, and it means, all those good folks down the years were wrong.
But worse.. only he
Only he.
Only he.. has the answers . . .
I read to learn, to engage, to grow.
