On the Beach

They still collect coal from our local Beach, enough for someone to stay in business selling the black gold.  There has been no mining since 1993, very interesting that man can still have this business from the rubbish dumped on the beach

l went paddling for the first time on Friday in the relatively warm north sea. Only knee high but an hour and l felt fit, clean, and good, due to this experience.                                                         Now what other experiences can give you this amount of fun?

Listen, God, to my prayer!

Don’t reject my request.

Listen, God, to my prayer!
Listen, God, to my prayer!
    Don’t reject my request.
     Please listen and help me.
My thoughts are troubled,
    and I keep groaning
    because my loud enemies
    shout and attack.
They treat me terribly
    and hold angry grudges.
 My heart is racing fast,
and I am afraid of dying.
    I am trembling with fear,
    completely terrified.

 I wish I had wings
    like a dove,
so I could fly far away
    and be at peace.
 I would go and live
    in some distant desert.
 I would quickly find shelter
    from howling winds
    and raging storms.

l was reading this old Psalm this morning "listen God to my prayers".
hope you can make yours and that they are listened too also.

TOO COLD 4 SWIMMING

Talking with the unemployed (a series)

Met Darren he got a 1 year old staffer Staffordshire border type dog

A 9 week old son

A girlfriend

Unemployed

But before we strive on in our minds with a view

Prejudice

What choice is there?

What opening

What do this young family expect of life?

Where is the sign of a caring God?

That sounds or may sound bitter or blasphemous

Has we spoke l felt powerless

Often l have felt powerless

But this was l do not know how to point you to HOPE

I encourged him to explore collage and a profession

How lame did I feel?

….speaking to J earlier the same day…he been put out during the day to make him go and look for work..

Is that right or wrong of his parents. . . .Irrelevent..As there are no jobs…

But the tensions in that home above the normal teenager /son/parents…bigger due to the lack of opportunity..

J will drink more maybe try some drugs..

This is the quite fizzing face of youth unemployment

I see and live among.

Where is the Hope?

I Feel very strongly that RADIO 2 are too often putting down those on benefit it feels like every issue touches on Blaming those unfortunate to be on benefit as though it there own fault

l am on benefit ESA SICKNESS BENIFIT

l have worked most of my adult life

l was a senior community and youth worker

l have worked and now walk with many who are unemployed (I mean we are walking around our area trying to survive, getting an angle on life and how to cope).

since l started work in 1974 l have listened to the slot that is now JV

it worries me the way the issue of those on benefit often in my view comes around to blame

RADIO 2 do not ever appear to me to explore technical benefits

or challenge the real factual view that governments bring down the unemployment figures and amount saved on benefit

radio 2 is part of a media that promotes view that benefit is a choice and people are living glorias better of life on benefit...

it happens often with the show

almost as often as we hear a crap David bowie album track/or Albert Costello track. so that a lot

the jeremy vine show a personal view

The Jeremy vine show a personal view
for me personally it like he got a hearned on for slighting those unfortunate to be on benefit in the UK
hiding behind a smarmy inquisitive journalist interest
while all the time
putting those on any kind of benefit into a corner
they can`t fight back
so its dig
dig
dig
put down
put down
put down
never do you hear an attack on the government
or profound questioning around the social issues
if only he challenged the bankers the way he challenges and puts down
those unfortunate enough to be on benefit
what he does is slight..vague interest..while pointing you to be abusive to those on benefit
that how it seams..
I FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THE WAY EACH ISSUE AROUND THOSE ON BENIFIT ENDS

The violence . . .the abuse . . .brokeness

The violence
Abuse
Broken homes
Are just a few of the affects?

if this was a war we would have lost years ago

"It just feels stupid that this is allowed to go on and to continue to go on," talking about late nite drinking in the UK
a Police officer criticised the Government's introduction of extended drinking hours back in 2003.
He said: "We've got a piece of legislation that's patently failed and I think that's widely recognised by the politicians and the public.
The health service will tell you about the steam train of alcohol problems coming down the track
l as youth worker witness the poverty experienced by children because Alcohol and going out very regular affects the life’s of young people
They follow this
Only last Friday l spoke to a youth who drinks 4 cans every day
This lad is from a Christian home
He can see nothing wrong
You go out to most city centres in the UK towns and rural communities also
The violence
Abuse
Broken homes
Are just a few of the affects?
l would add the lack of true potential
it is a spiritual issue
people drinking to cope with life’s disappointments

deep thoughts this day 14 July 2012

The road is long and damp Chilly wet underfoot BUT the views along the cliff top are wild windy and ever changing...l feel at peace along the cliffs and pray protest and walk in silence trying to gather my thoughts as l still work out my place in the world

emerging issues

Some of what l project is difficult and a challenge for other providers
you have to furrow own path in youth work to succeed
funding and commitment are both short term in modern youth work

all you need in a successful youth programme is space and equipment
the crucial stuff is in the relationship
from that the issues emerge
a lot of youth work you witness in christian youthwork ministry is selecting the issue then manipulating the group into facing the issue...so they are following a programme..my experience is to allow the event to happen..the issues emerge its hard work you have to adapt to what is going on in the young peoples lifes

KEVS LIFE TODAY

Asian markets are really good value on vegetables and fruit
prices and quality very good,
box of tomatoes £2.
Melons 6 at price cost you 1 in supermarket
spices and fresh bread really recommend

l can get by with 4 floured roti bread a week
although when fresh out of the tandoori oven l scoff one straight away

Weather not been good for walking recently
every where is very wet
underfoot is damp
clothes are not drying out
slugs are gaining new territory and birds are orientated mad

Tablets and medicine are making life a challenge
l am supposed to have an hospital date
for surgery but not come through

Life appears on hold

Faith is a challenge

The word appears dry

l know this is not true

Very important to work through a desert time

Honest

. The Five levels areas communicating that l try to use

Here my effort today with YOU

Above you will find that l have used

1. Cliché

2. Facts

3. Opinion

4. Feelings

5. Total Openness

On residential get people in pairs/twos

Ask them to share for a couple of minutes only using Clichés,

Then move to facts.

If confident build on opinions.

Then exploring who we are?

Being real with each other asking what does that involves? `

Wonderful to see young people reflecting on life own views experiences

Paddling out to each other

Exploring how we can be more real.

A severe flood warning has been issued as forecasters said up to a month's rain could fall over 24 hours with Yorkshire among the worst affected

WHILE ALL AROUND US STORIES AND ENCOUNTERS HAPPEN
ITS THE WORLD WE MOVE IN THAT HAS THE MOST IMPACT

My Freinds

l luv the way we communicate at present so much different then 5 years ago.
(gorilla gardening)
l walk with mates,
chat with friends in a café,
someone visits,
people call around due to my illness and waiting for Hospital with soup and fruit,
e-mails arrive,
text messages,
mobile calls,
face book,

often life they tell me is tough
same here
they acknowledge

who not what can we do?
there are those who need to be brought to book!
its biblical...relevant and necessary

(Pigs fly)
The latest measures that really suggests that the Government is completely out of touch with the needs of young people. They suggest that in order to save money, remove crucial housing support from virtually everyone under the age of 25 is absurd, but we give 20 million to Barclays bank manager.
There`s work to do . . lets go to work!

Heavy rain began Across our area few months ago stiil bloody here

The Met Office has issued an amber alert, meaning people should be prepared for disruption and potential flooding. Heavy rain began to sweep across the east coast shortly before 7am.
Yes its become the news here as it just stays
it affects all of life Gardens outa control
cannot walk or plan ahead
how do you dress
lots of walks sites areas are flooded
if you go out the centre or the street may block
car belongings get damaged
add to that stress poverty

locality and the blighted area
economics
lack of work opportunities
resilience of own finical management
its a tough call at present

Its called life . . .

l set off an hour ago to have a meeting at a youth and community centre l visited about 4 years ago.
51 minutes later l could not find it,
along with the mystery calls from Liverpool
l decided to travel onto a cafe and am sat now drinking hot chocolate after scrambled eggs and a bagel.
Its called life . . .
Its called life . . .

would love to be in Malta getting ready for a cafe at Eddies in Valetta square ...nice

now here is an idea, actually seriously

Actually seriously now here is an idea,
lets house all the bankers into the `care` homes take all the bankers homes and house Children and the young coming from such environments
.
“What I’m concerned about is what happens when that child walks out of the front door and all of a sudden finds him or herself in an area where there is a proliferation of people who may want to harm that child. "
One problem are not some bankers abusive towards children already?

news l am interested in one idea l have!

Britain’s most vulnerable children are routinely sent to live in care homes on the same street as hostels for sex offenders and violent criminals, the Children’s Minister disclosed last night.

now here an idea let house all the bankers into the care homes
take all the bankers homes and house Children and the young coming from such environments

l would have fought the world 4U

WHO
WHAT
WOULD YOU FIGHT THE WORLD FOR

luv this

In the calling out to one another
Of the lovers up and down the strand
In the sound of the waves and the cries
Of the seagulls circling the sand
In the fragments of the songs
Carried down the wind from some radio
In the murmuring of the city in the distance
Ominous and low
I hear the sound of the world where we played
And the far too simple beauty
Of the promises we made
If you ever need holding
Call my name, I'll be there
If you ever need holding
And no holding back, I'll see you through
Sky blue and black
Where the touch of the lover ends
And the soul of the friend begins
There's a need to be separate and a need to be one
And a struggle neither wins
Where you gave me the world I was in
And a place I could make a stand
I could never see how you doubted me
When I'd let go of your hand
Yeah, and I was much younger then
And I must have thought that I would know
If things were going to end
And the heavens were rolling
Like a wheel on a track
And our sky was unfolding
And it'll never fold back
Sky blue and black
And I'd have fought the world for you
If I thought that you wanted me to
Or put aside what was true or untrue
If I'd known that's what you needed
What you needed me to do
But the moment has passed by me now
To have put away my pride
And just come through for you somehow
If you ever need holding
Call my name, I'll be there
If you ever need holding
And no holding back, I'll see you through
You're the color of the sky
Reflected in each store-front window pane
You're the whispering and the sighing
Of my tires in the rain-acapo
