Millions of people around the world face prejudice and hostility simply because of their identity.
Today, on #HolocaustMemorialDay, join the nation in standing against hatred - light a candle in your window at 8pm.
Together, we'll remember all those murdered for who they were.
l recall times when shop became silent Great Mr T would say `Kevin put kettle on, go to Polish bakers get some cakes`.. then told myself all about corned beef given by solider to inmate on first day of liberation but kindness killed the person ..who tried to eat all of the tin..the way the guards made the Great Mr T alter the uniforms so they fitted better.( He was a tailor and worked Camp tailoring unit), hence his surviving the event..As ate our strudel, told me about change of Music coming over the speaker system in the day before they were rescued, the propaganda became about great man Churchill and Brother Russians who were coming..Guards disappeared, then British tank came through gates.Liberated to Tehran, then UK before fighting in Battles like 'overlord',retake Europe.
Passed to me a trade, Skills and Friendship, but lessons shared never fully appreciated.
The journey that life gave me, hope Great Mr T and others came into my life at that time.
Know how we valued them, can still see me making cups of tea has they shared experiences.
