Some ancient manuscripts give us the revolutionary’s full name: Jesus Barabbas, that is, Jesus Son of the Father.
Jesus Barabbas is a rival messiah, a rival to Jesus of Nazareth.
Jesus Barabbas advocated killing our enemies; Jesus of Nazareth taught us to love our enemies.
If we think that killing our enemies is compatible with Christian ethics, we are in effect saying, “Give us Barabbas!”
Kinda convoluted but message ,sermon is clear....as we walk slowly in a secular, post modern society, towards Easter.
Some thoughts will turn to the events,
further facts, about events 2019 years ago (Approx)
Think it goes like this, Met Jesus in my late teens ,already become aware of and believed in..When came to leave his home. ..(Church)..Struggled felt sad, then (God) ,his voice spoke to myself, that tough one...because am well eldest of, from working class estate in Hull. then as now one of the most deprived areas of the UK.
All the labels they
attach to kidz like that already tattooed to my soul.
