A Christian charity is reportedly bringing the government to court in a case against the coalition's welfare reforms.
According to the Sunday Times, Zacchaeus 2000 (Z2K) is involved in legal challenges over the so called "bedroom tax and personal independence payments (PIP) for sick and disabled people.
It's believed the charity whose, patron includes the Archbishop of Canterbury, Most Revd Justin Welby, has also objected to the policy of requiring those seeking discretionary housing payments (DHP) to join a work scheme or move to a cheaper home.
A government source is quoted as saying: "I think the public would be surprised to learn how their money is being misspent by their charities.
Maybe they too should concentrate on transforming lives on the ground instead of using donations to attack government policies."
It's understood the Archbishop of Canterbury agreed to become a patron of Z2K on the understanding that he would not be involved in the day to day running of the charity.
So let's understand this!
Stay quiet,
The Church does not care and is seen as irrelevant.
Step into the situation support the vulnerable and the Goverment directly attacks a charity,
This is where the Church should be at the frontier of society attacking unfair and Basis polices that target those on the edges.
These issues have slipped into the mainstream and we must speak into the vacuum,
Along with standing in the gap supporting,
Speaking up,
Being alongside,
Getting angry,
Yes there is a place for righteous anger!
Not pointing the finger, gossiping, nor sideing with the power brokers.
