the debate is on TV tonite

New research from Homeless Link indicating that around 4 in 10 young people become homeless because their parents are no longer willing to house them, reinforces our recent calls for Government to reconsider proposals to remove Housing Benefit for under-25s.
Young and Homeless 2013, based on a survey of 169 frontline agencies (homelessness charities and local authority housing departments), reveals that more than half of young people find themselves homeless because of relationship breakdown.

Benefits Street's White Dee is set to go face-to-face with Katie Hopkins in a live debate tonight (February 3).

The pair will form part of a panel to discuss benefits in the UK, alongside former London Mayor Ken Livingstone, ex-Tory MP Edwina Currie and former model Annabel Giles, who previously lived on benefits as a single mother.

O'Grady said: "It's one of those programmes to get Middle England 'up in arms'. These people are the sacrificial lambs on the altar of light entertainment and they have gone willingly: a smart tongue has got them to say all sorts and it is a very unfair representation of unemployment in this country.

"A lot of people do not choose to be on benefits and this is portraying everyone on benefits as doing it because they want to, not because they have to - it's shocking."

Asked how he would reduce the benefits bill, he explained: "Create more jobs for a start and raise the basic wage - it's appalling. You'll get people saying, 'Why should I come off benefits and go and do that job, lose an extra £30 a week and work myself to death 11 hours a day?'

"So raise the basic wage. Iain Duncan Smith was born with a silver spoon in his mouth."

WELL here my fourpennys worth why are we not attacking the real thieves in the temple politiains football stars bankers police commisioners employment staff who force people of benefit onto poorly paid unskilled work so has to look good themselves

. . . she got a postcard in the mail
That just said Heaven, with a picture of the ocean and the beach
The simple words he wrote her
Said he loved her
How he'd hold her if his arms would reach
Wish you were here, wish you could see this place
Wish you were near,Wish I could touch your face
The weather's nice, it's paradise
It's summertime all year and there's some folks we know
They say, "Hello, "
I miss you so, wish you were here"
