NORTHERN SOUL AND THE GOSPEL

.
When l was younger in fact way back in the day

We used to D`J in clubs and on the northern soul scene we wanted to keep our obscure music tracks hidden, so we white labelled them. That was a process by which we tipexed out or put whit tap over the various names

We would hide the names of the artist and the song title from our punters. But like me people found ways of discovering the artist.

Sing the song in the record shop or hum the tune

Someone would know and a following around a track grew.

You could go into a record shop in Hull like Sydney scarboro or Gough and Davy and the person in the shop would know the track

Incredible

They would let you listen and if it was the record you buy it!

But the intention was to hide the track, keep it hidden.

The Church does that with the Gospel we hide the truth, keep it hidden.

Use subtle behaviour like `if you behave in a certain way e.g. like US you can become a Christian

If U talk in a certain way You can follow Jesus

When you are not such a rough diamond

When you accept our theology

We white label the Gospel

Instead if assuring others they are accepted

Unconditionally God in the form of Jesus accepts you

Going places...

Some people just don't        know how to be Kind.         Age doesn't season them,       time does not mellow Them.  Try ...

MAYBE WE WON`T MEET AGAIN

. . . she got a postcard in the mail
That just said Heaven, with a picture of the ocean and the beach
The simple words he wrote her
Said he loved her
How he'd hold her if his arms would reach
Wish you were here, wish you could see this place
Wish you were near,Wish I could touch your face
The weather's nice, it's paradise
It's summertime all year and there's some folks we know
They say, "Hello, "
I miss you so, wish you were here"
