Drivers in Britain are now paying more than £100 to fill up their tank, as the cost of petrol has jumped by 5.5% in just two months.

Motorists using unleaded fuel have been hit hardest, with price increases of 7.3% a litre, according to analysis of fuel prices carried out by Santander.

The biggest increases have been seen in Paisley, Durham and Hereford, where motorists pay 9% more for unleaded fuel than in January.

Dumfries in Scotland tops the table of the most expensive place to buy fuel in the UK. Prices in the Scottish town average 145.9 a litre, costing owners of vehicles with 70–litre tanks more than £100 to fill up.

Drivers of large family cars Durham, England can also expect to pay over a wallet-busting £100 for a full tank.
