this is one of my favorite walks
it takes place from the south side of Scarborough harbour to the north side and up to cayton bay
the road around here has changed a lot since my youth when in the early seventies l used to come here with friends
but the bracing wind and the warm sun have often been on my back has l have enjoyed this lovely walk
this picture was taken last Sunday as l drove home from Hull having had time with my family

WALLER.- Tony. Passed away in Castle Hill Hospital on 20th August 2011 aged 76. Much loved husband of Rita, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Service will be held on Thursday 1st September at Chanterlands Crematorium (Large Chapel) at 11.30am. Now Resting at A. Shepherd & Sons, Telephone 323510

Music was my first love!



It may well be my last.

my fathers death

Last Saturday evening, my Father died at castle hill hospital,the 20th of August around 22.50.
he had had a long illness falling victim of Alzheimer's.
He was surrounded by a loving family when he ended his earthly journey.
A family who led by mum had visited him and were possible maintained his dignity and humanity.
l was impressed by my brothers sisters and mother has they showed myself, (and others l am sure), how to love someone through the illness and to a journeys end.
Tony's life could not have been easy witnessing very close together the death of younger brother and sister (uncle Barry and aunt Margret), along with the death of another brother (uncle David),and his own parents.
These events happened close together in time.
l cannot understand how this grief and difficulties made him feel emotionally.
perhaps this contributed to his own state of mind ,then other health issues?

but he had to cope, l suppose.


My own brother Ian along with other brothers and sister where actually with Dad as he died.In his end Tony was surrounded by his sons daughters and wife.
If death can be nice,this could be described as nice place to die.

A personal view on the August Riots

We build up either good or bad in our relationships with each other
Why do police feel that is any different in the relationship they have with others?
The biggest issue l have had with the police is the way they have dealt with myself as a motorist travelling at 32 miles an hour in a 30 mile zone results in £70 fine, not having my seatbelt on road near my home in Hull results in £60 fine.
Many false accusations unproven arrested bringing some friends over from Eire no charges brought but holding my diary and laptop for nearly 6 months.
Home raided 3 times looking for weapons and drugs, (true if you wanna see the newspaper reports let me know).
Lot of mates have had worse experiences so l have no symphony for them.
Look at the way they handle football supporters, l have witnessed cruel strikes against footie fans when watching Hull city and Liverpool, Everton, Sheffield Wednesday, Grimsby.
It was disgusting watching those watching rioters in action around London and rest of the UK. Built up like Robocop with so much protection yet they acted like chickens and cowards.
l cannot accept the riots where just about looting, there was so much else brought into this act, yet l hear very limited response





Youths were very evident in the riots
But also others not a lot older 30`s and 40`s the looting spread into burning down of property and ruining lives.
6 People were killed and several sickening scenes were recorded for the TV revolutionist to witness
This riot was televised almost as it happened.
WHY.
I live in a very deprived area, and it is worse than when l was starting out in youth work in 1976. As a volunteer at Cott road Baptist, having come to faith in the September of that year.
In 1984 l became a professional being paid to be a youth worker.
l got around £60 a week.
We do not Riot here,
SHOULD WE?
However shops with nothing in them, burnt out vehicles, rows of boarded up streets is the normal.
Lack of Education
Low wages
Decades of unemployment
Poor diets
Single parent’s homes
Jealousy greed violence
Limited resource....... WHY?
Why is this normal?

we planning whitby

We , collectively Youth leader, youths. Planning Whitby day trip.
To canoe, walk,fossil,have chips
but the hardest part is walking up these stairs.

Planed  Whitby day its the only trip we have been able to fund this year a day out.
No residential, no other day trips, just walks in our area
They wonder why 'kidz' are bored, further wish to disturb the scene.
Oh by the way the police look at sites like this, told myself warn persons about the content.
What a waste.

Social media and other methods have been used to organise... greed and criminality
even kids that l work with (from very impoverished backgrounds )as young 12 have brilliant expensive phones which they acess info on but they do not assimulate the knowledge well.

That is true today.
l do not agree or approve of looting (even now it appears killing
or riots are taking place). London ?
But when we can reflect and listen we may get a proper grasp around others issues?

London burns as rioters, looters, run amok.Police are deployed across the capital as vehicles and shops are set alight and further riots and upsetting scene in Bristol Leeds Liverpool
sad thing is burnt out shops unemployment ..underemployment..lack of true wage..poor education..is the norm in this neck of the woods.

Lost their life after becoming stuck on the saltwick ridge near Whitby
The back of the boat broke and the ship sank in rough weather

I have not swam around this wreck or walked out to it enough at low tide
when I have its been so inspiring
and fun.

felt like i belonged

yesterday l took the canoe out into the waters of the north sea from sandsend.
l had a brilliant time walking from cliffs to saltwick bay and the wreck of the von trump.
true. von trump.
at 15.00 l went into the sea with my inflatable kayak among the surfers and canoest l held my own.
went under loads came to shore got soaked.
LOVED IT
cleaning the mud and sand at the top of the cliff safely ashore on a baking hot August evening around 18.00
the tide now fullyin.
everyone polishing surf boards.waxing canoes and me.
cleaning the mud and deflating my kayak.
l felt like the CHAV of this surfing elite.
